Rebirth

Roots IntertwinedMaybe we were trees
In our former life

Side by side
Roots deeply tangled
Branches barely touching
And when the Moon
Performed its sonata
Our leaves sang
The same melody

Lovers
Dreamers
Runaways
Found a safe haven
From our shelter

Seasons changed
People changed
Yet we were always
Growing together
In love and beauty
Side by side

Perhaps then
We decided that
We would be poets
In this life
Growing together
In love and beauty

Although
Seasons have changed
People have changed
And even we are no longer the same

Our roots still lie
Firmly
In a fertile soil

  1. I just edited the poem slightly. Actually, I only added a missing a word: “be” (poets). It is in the original version – no idea what happened. Thank you for letting me know, teacher! :))) ❤

    1. I’m truly humbled by your feedback, Soumyajit. That means a lot coming from you. I have never considered myself “gifted”… though fortunate in many ways. We all have a unique voice and a story to tell – I’m blessed to have been given the words. They’re my “tools”.

    1. Thank you!! I’m so glad you liked the texture. I’m also surprisingly satisfied with the outcome. I am… very sensitive. Luckily, I’ve managed to turn it into my greatest strength. Love and light. – N

  2. I really enjoyed this, Noora. 🙂
I have felt like this…exactly. Seems like only weeks ago.
There’s Was a time I felt connected in this way. The timing was off, however, and we lost contact with each other. Mostly due to stubbornness and our pride.
There is still love. Our roots are still entwined. Surely the first couple lines “did it” for me.

    1. Hey there! Thank you SO much for reading and sharing your personal story. One of the greatest things about poetry is that we can find our own interpretation – as if it was written for us. It is always very inspiring to know that my words have touched someone. 🙂 Much love. – N
