The Point of No Return

I have always been a stargazer
Admired mythical constellations
With wonder and awe

But now
There is no need
To gaze up the night canvas
In order to seek
Infinite beauty

If somewhere is heaven
It is right here
In your eyes

They were the beginning
And will be the end
Of me

So, please
Take my hand
Let’s dive deep
Into intimacy

We have already crossed
The point of no return

Echoes and Reflections

whirlwind_of_feelings___oil_painting_on_canvas_by_leonidafremov-d2w7oha

 Alone
In the afterglow
Lying here
In our memories

Reminiscing
How it felt to be
An inspiration
For your
Creative fingertips

How I melted
Like soft clay
In the hands
Of a dedicated sculptor
As you made me
Your secret masterpiece

And yours alone
I still am
In the afterglow
Of our love

Reminiscing
How it felt
To unfold you
With my love
One layer at a time

How my hopeful lips
Stole your breath
And made it ours
In the kiss
Of truths
And expectations

And still tonight
I breathe our love
When I escape to the place
Where yesterday’s spark
Still flames
Where unwritten poems
Sensuously moan
Where you stay
With me

Unforgettable
In the afterglow

Four short poems

UNTITLED

I want to touch you
Yet not touch you

The fragile light
Wanders across
Your slumbering hills
And inviting valleys
But I am still
Like morning dew
On sleepy flowers
Absorbing poetry
At its finest

I want to touch you
Yet not touch you
But memorize
Each curve
And pathway
With my poet’s eyes
Until I melt
Into the scenery

© Noora

NOTE: I realized I never finished this piece because I decided to use “slumbering hills and inviting valleys” in my poem called: Poetry in the Air– please, feel free to read it.

ONE-NIGHT STANDS

Adrift
Like my
Night-time poems

Replayed memories
For no one to view
Silent sorrow
For no one to interpret
Protected secrets
Never meant to see
The daylight

Lyrical one-night stands
Forgotten
In the morning

When my yesterday
Turns into
Someone else’s tomorrow
Where I am nothing
But a haunting sunset

© Noora

ABANDONED

My skin
Still aches
From where
Your fingertips
And lips
Traced pathways
And marked territory
You never claimed.
We both burned
With the same fire
But why am I
The only one
Left smoldering

© Noora

MEMORIES

Sometimes
They come
And stay
Uninvited
And play
With the strings
Of my heart
Slowly
Soulfully
Refusing
To leave
Like an adagio

© Noora

They are NOT new (!) and not in any specific order. I wasn’t sure about posting them (at all) because “One-night stands” and “Abandoned” are slightly depressing. I often edit my old drafts/notes (written years ago), but I doubt I’d ever work on these pieces again, so, perhaps it’s time to set them free – and most of all get over my “nothing to post” stress. Ha!

Love, laughter, inspiration
Always

Hopeless Crazy Love

In celebration of the #WorldPoetryDay, I’m re-blogging my very first post. I wrote this piece back in 2009 – when poetry found me again. I honestly can’t believe it’ll be six years this year… feels like yesterday, yet so long ago at the same time. Which one of YOUR poems is the most significant to you, and why?! Please feel free to link your poem in the comments section below – I’d love to read it. Happy World Poetry Day! – Noora

Echoes and Reflections

Two poets
Two muses

Enjoying life
Reading Neruda
Tasting consonants
And vowels
Fine words
Perfectly placed

Two poets
Two muses

Naked
Except
For the jewelry

Her hair
Slightly tangled
Morning mist
In my eyes

Two poets
One poem

Escaping
Exploring
Hopeless
Crazy
Love

Two worlds
One language

Unwritten story

Invitation

It’s reblog Sunday, right? I’m hoping to post a new poem next week. Now I’m off to enjoy your poems and other posts! P.S. Please, click on “view original” – thank you!!! 🙂

Echoes and Reflections

Come
Walk with me
Where wildflowers bloom

Lie beside me
Beneath the irresistible sky
Point out
The constellations
You wish to fly to
I will take you there

The star chart is printed
On your skin
I will trace
My fingertips
Intimately
Across the beauty
I read like braille

Pausing

At the loveliest places
In order to forget
The world
But never you

Love,
Until the wildflowers
Begin to wither
In summer’s farewell

Come
Walk with me
Where all our journeys end

Echoes and Reflections

LIGHTHOUSE

I remember the ships
Sailed by me
How my light
Guided their journey
Held them gently
In the evening fog
Offered them faith
In the storm
Yet no one ever stayed

They have sailed
On the sea
Of endless possibilities
But no one has ever
Returned
To tell
Whether they discovered
A safe haven
Or are they still
Drifting
Hoping and waiting
For a miracle
Like my soul today

I often recall
Their names
And tales
And I wonder
If they
Still remember me
The moments we shared
The dreams we dreamt

Bittersweet waves
Crash and fall
Yet I stand still
Heart anchored
Eyes on the horizon
Still waiting
Still hoping
To be someone’s destination

It’s been a while…

PREDAWN

A haunting melody
Like a siren’s song
Tempts me to dive
Into sensual waters

Serendipitous eyes whisper:
Wordless promises
Delicate intentions
Unfulfilled longings

Yet I see nothing
But a fading sunset

Bittersweet predawn

PRAYER

When the dawn
Begins to play
The first chords
Of an acoustic prelude
And a nocturnal veil
Of the smiling stars
Slowly uncovers you
I hope that
The gentle messenger
Unveils your day
With my prayers
Silently lingering
In its ancient
Rays of hope

STARLESS

If
I will undress
My heart and soul
Beneath
The tragically beautiful
Night canvas

Expose my secrets
Strip off my metaphors
Bare my sorrow
Reveal my desire

If
I promise
To pull you in
With the first line
And keep your attention
Until there is
Nothing left
But purple utopia

Will you
Cover me
With the dust
Of the stars
You stole
From my night sky

Will you?

COME BACK TO ME

Dear muse

Come to me
Like a raging fire
Take me back
To the place
Where there is no yesterday
Or tomorrow
Just an infinite bliss

Tangled sheets
Non-stop laughter
Eyes closed, lips seeing
Dripping with new verses
Poetry at its finest

Dear muse

The fiery breaths
Between your kisses
Inspire me endlessly
So, come to me
Let’s drift back
Into poetic madness

Hey, remember me? Just a few random and unedited musings for my first post of the year. It’s GREAT to be back! I’ve truly missed the WP community – a place filled with talented and inspiring writers of all kind.

2015: new chances, new disappointments, new achievements, new experiences, new memories – something new to write about. I wish you all an unforgettable and inspiring 2015. Chase your dreams and make them your reality.

And now I’m off to read some of your latest posts. It’s been way too long!! Please bear with me, it may take a few days to complete the task.

My first haikus

My first ones:

PEACEFUL HURRICANE
my skin – your valley
lips mark their territory
sensual earthquakes

SERENDIPITY
the hues of your heart
melt into my horizon
surrender awaits

SOUL BOND
earth, water, fire, air
you, me, we, eternally
some things never change

NIRVANA
dripping divine love
eyes closed, tasting her passion
drunk on morning dew

SPRING
migrant birds return
i am still in the same place
lost my direction

… and a bonus haiku 🙂

YOU :))
indescribable
OR too many syllables
damn fucking haikus

****

Hey! I am so sorry for the absence.

Here are some random haikus. I’ve never written them before, but I was encouraged to try. I wrote approximately 30 “heart haikus”, but I’m not satisfied with them. I turned old notes into haikus and wrote a few in one sitting. Well, since “write like no one is reading” IS my motto for the year, I decided to post a few anyway. I enjoy reading haikus, but I didn’t enjoy writing them. lol. Ok, once I stopped taking it so seriously – it was fun … kind of. :)) Counting syllables was a challenge for a Finnish girl though. 🙂 I may have messed up with some words, but at least I tried.

Hope you all have a beautiful and inspiring weekend,
– Noora

Truth

Three hundred
Sunsets later

My lips
Still feel
The absence
Of yours

My skin
Still quivers
From where your
Fevered fingertips
Wandered
When your scent
Mingled
With mine
And your eyes
Kindled
A perpetual fire

The distance
Still reminds me of
How I kissed
The gentle messenger
Until it unveiled
Your days
With my whispers
Silently lingering
In its rays

The stillness
Still remembers
A million minute journey
Filled with
The melody
Of your soul
When only a day
Without your voice
Felt like a lifetime
Without music

And with these
Hesitant and vulnerable
Yet truthful verses
I am

Yours

More than you
Could ever
Be mine again

Three hundred
Sunsets later

It’s time to post one of yesteryear’s poems while focusing on the new material. I wrote this piece nearly a year ago. It was one of those moments when memories surround you without warning, and you have no other choice than write… in order to “free” yourself.

Hope you all have a beautiful weekend.
Happy writing!!

Aina

If I had only one poem left to write

one memorable scene
one life-altering moment
one indescribable phenomenon
one special feeling

one unforgettable touch
one memory to immortalize
one melody to recall
one word to whisper

A journey filled with the heart’s indefinable yearning – completed.
The mystery of faded sunsets, the beauty of tomorrow’s dawn – defined
in your beaming eyes – inviting me to dance – in them
Fearlessly – I surrender.

The mist of your breath lingers on my neck, kisses –like tiny tornadoes – still caress my skin
from miles away; I read aloud – your favorite poem – the one that always lulls you to safe slumber.
Half-asleep you murmur our cherished phrases – in my language – and I whisper back:

“Aina”.

This is not a new poem. I was just going through some of my older writings and decided that there’s absolutely no reason NOT to share them. As much as I enjoy “the now” and anticipate tomorrow; I am very thankful for yesterday. That’s all.

Edited: oh no, the first two lines in last verse were too long for this layout. I have to see if there’s anything I could do about it. The last verse doesn’t look good.

Update: Looks like it’s only messed up on the front page. If you click the title – it appears as it should. 🙂
