Echoes and Reflections

 Alone
In the afterglow
Lying here
In our memories

Reminiscing
How it felt to be
An inspiration
For your
Creative fingertips

How I melted
Like soft clay
In the hands
Of a dedicated sculptor
As you made me
Your secret masterpiece

And yours alone
I still am
In the afterglow
Of our love

Reminiscing
How it felt
To unfold you
With my love
One layer at a time

How my hopeful lips
Stole your breath
And made it ours
In the kiss
Of truths
And expectations

And still tonight
I breathe our love
When I escape to the place
Where yesterday’s spark
Still flames
Where unwritten poems
Sensuously moan
Where you stay
With me

Unforgettable
In the afterglow

Hopeless Crazy Love

In celebration of the #WorldPoetryDay, I’m re-blogging my very first post. I wrote this piece back in 2009 – when poetry found me again. I honestly can’t believe it’ll be six years this year… feels like yesterday, yet so long ago at the same time. Which one of YOUR poems is the most significant to you, and why?! Please feel free to link your poem in the comments section below – I’d love to read it. Happy World Poetry Day! – Noora

Echoes and Reflections

Two poets
Two muses

Enjoying life
Reading Neruda
Tasting consonants
And vowels
Fine words
Perfectly placed

Two poets
Two muses

Naked
Except
For the jewelry

Her hair
Slightly tangled
Morning mist
In my eyes

Two poets
One poem

Escaping
Exploring
Hopeless
Crazy
Love

Two worlds
One language

Unwritten story

Rebirth

Hope you all have an inspiring week, filled with love, laughter and good madness!

Echoes and Reflections

Roots IntertwinedMaybe we were trees
In our former life

Side by side
Roots deeply tangled
Branches barely touching
And when the Moon
Performed its sonata
Our leaves sang
The same melody

Lovers
Dreamers
Runaways
Found a safe haven
From our shelter

Seasons changed
People changed
Yet we were always
Growing together
In love and beauty
Side by side

Perhaps then
We decided that
We would be poets
In this life
Growing together
In love and beauty

Although
Seasons have changed
People have changed
And even we are no longer the same

Our roots still lie
Firmly
In a fertile soil

Lighthouse

Just reblogging “Lighthouse” with a NEW picture from my second trip to Crete last summer. It was an unforgettable experience and I can’t wait to go back – again and again. Hope you all have an inspiring weekend. – Noora

Echoes and Reflections

LIGHTHOUSE

I remember the ships
Sailed by me
How my light
Guided their journey
Held them gently
In the evening fog
Offered them faith
In the storm
Yet no one ever stayed

They have sailed
On the sea
Of endless possibilities
But no one has ever
Returned
To tell
Whether they discovered
A safe haven
Or are they still
Drifting
Hoping and waiting
For a miracle
Like my soul today

I often recall
Their names
And tales
And I wonder
If they
Still remember me
The moments we shared
The dreams we dreamt

Bittersweet waves
Crash and fall
Yet I stand still
Heart anchored
Eyes on the horizon
Still waiting
Still hoping
To be someone’s destination

Dear Rumi

One of the things I love about poetry is that it is timeless! Today, I’m sharing Karen’s incredibly beautiful tribute to Rumi. Karen is an amazing poet herself. If you’re not following her already – you really should. Karen’s work never ceases to amaze and inspire me!

Dear Rumi,

Centuries later,

You have made me cry,

For I too have been here since the dawn of time,

Absorbing essence of light and dark, soil and sky,

But the word,

Your words,

Read from ancient scrolls

Left me bleeding with the thorns of roses wanting more,

Pleading for the universe to make my words eternal,

For my passion, like yours, to last forever,

In hunger, in longing, in forgiveness and in letting go,

To carry this heavy burden of love, in beauty,

Like you,

A brilliant flower garden in the cyclical budding of time,

In grief, and in joy,

for all the universe to hear and feel and love,

That timeless heartbeat aching to be free

Yet wanting to be captured

By her, by me, by infinite melody.

For Noora, Who Inspires,

Vulnerability

I found this gorgeous photograph by the lovely, talented Teija. I thought it might go well with “Vulnerability”. I apologize for the long delay in posting and reading. I’ll try to get something posted next week. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Love and light, Noora

Echoes and Reflections

Vulnerability
(under the magnifying glass)

Somewhere
Between the sunset
And a breaking dawn

Bare and exposed
Covered only
With the scars and stretch marks
Precious beauty spots
My journey has left me with

Vulnerability
Courage
At its finest

Verses written
Not to glorify
Nor to stay
But to leave
Poetic footprints
Behind

Echoes
Once naked sighs
Between searching lips
Compose
Beautiful ballads

Reflections
Once intertwined silhouettes
Of the two souls
Paint
Memorable scenery

For me
For anyone
Who cares
To welcome
My truth
Into their hearts

Please
Take off
Your magnifying glass
Put away
Your microscope
You will only discover
What you think is there

Observe my reality
With an open mind
And perhaps
You’ll hear
The lyrics
My quiet heart
Truly sings

Bare and exposed
Somewhere
Between the sunset
And a breaking dawn
