Utopia

Skin on skin
Yet not close enough
Breathing you in
Desperately
Until you
Vanish
Like mist
On forgotten valleys
Where birds
Preach about
What-ifs and used-to-bes
Where the crescent moon
Reminds me of
How your hands
Loved me
Before dawn
Where a ghost choir
Serenades
Overplayed love songs
Where loneliness
Embraces me
Poetically

Hopeless Crazy Love

In celebration of the #WorldPoetryDay, I’m re-blogging my very first post. I wrote this piece back in 2009 – when poetry found me again. I honestly can’t believe it’ll be six years this year… feels like yesterday, yet so long ago at the same time. Which one of YOUR poems is the most significant to you, and why?! Please feel free to link your poem in the comments section below – I’d love to read it. Happy World Poetry Day! – Noora

Echoes and Reflections

Two poets
Two muses

Enjoying life
Reading Neruda
Tasting consonants
And vowels
Fine words
Perfectly placed

Two poets
Two muses

Naked
Except
For the jewelry

Her hair
Slightly tangled
Morning mist
In my eyes

Two poets
One poem

Escaping
Exploring
Hopeless
Crazy
Love

Two worlds
One language

Unwritten story

Serenity

Serenity
Descends
Upon me
It lingers
Like the soft notes
Of Mozart’s legacy
Or a devoted caress
Immortalized
On my skin

Northern wind sings
Along with fading stars
And morning birds preach
In secret codes
While the dawn
Still hesitates
To arrive

Serenity
Descends
Upon me
As I sink into
Smiling silence

Déjà vu

Sunset

SUNSET

At sunset
I lose myself
In the beauty
Of a vulnerable sky
Painted with
Sentimental afterglow

At twilight
I can hear
How the setting sun
Blissfully hums
An ancient lullaby
A promise of a reunion

Her infinite melody
Fills me with hope
Yet evokes
The deepest longing

At sunset
I lose myself
In poetry
For she is my stillness
And I am her words

The Smile

Hopeful breaths
Frozen prayers
Create
Delicate ice flowers
On a windowpane

From somewhere
Out there
A serendipitous light
Draws me in
Through the wistful dusk

And I melt
Into serenity
Like the blooming frost
On a windowpane
In the touch
Of a warm miracle
