UNTITLED
I want to touch you
Yet not touch you
The fragile light
Wanders across
Your slumbering hills
And inviting valleys
But I am still
Like morning dew
On sleepy flowers
Absorbing poetry
At its finest
I want to touch you
Yet not touch you
But memorize
Each curve
And pathway
With my poet’s eyes
Until I melt
Into the scenery

NOTE: I realized I never finished this piece because I decided to use “slumbering hills and inviting valleys” in my poem called: Poetry in the Air– please, feel free to read it.
ONE-NIGHT STANDS
Adrift
Like my
Night-time poems
Replayed memories
For no one to view
Silent sorrow
For no one to interpret
Protected secrets
Never meant to see
The daylight
Lyrical one-night stands
Forgotten
In the morning
When my yesterday
Turns into
Someone else’s tomorrow
Where I am nothing
But a haunting sunset

ABANDONED
My skin
Still aches
From where
Your fingertips
And lips
Traced pathways
And marked territory
You never claimed.
We both burned
With the same fire
But why am I
The only one
Left smoldering

MEMORIES
Sometimes
They come
And stay
Uninvited
And play
With the strings
Of my heart
Slowly
Soulfully
Refusing
To leave
Like an adagio

They are NOT new (!) and not in any specific order. I wasn’t sure about posting them (at all) because “One-night stands” and “Abandoned” are slightly depressing. I often edit my old drafts/notes (written years ago), but I doubt I’d ever work on these pieces again, so, perhaps it’s time to set them free – and most of all get over my “nothing to post” stress. Ha!
Love, laughter, inspiration
